The Glenkinchie label was relatively little known until 1989, when United Distillers started marketing it under their Classic Malts brand. Glenkinchie’s maltings remained open until 1968. The buildings have since been turned into a museum which contains a remarkable scale model of a working distillery built by SMD in 1925 for the British Empire Exhibition.Tried this alongside a tamadhu and a glen scotia dram, and this was probably the most "different" to what I've tasted in the past. Glenkinchie,was recently named as ‘ The Garden Distillery’, due to its beautiful new garden development; fruits of a vision of planting to echo the land and greenery surrounding the distillery in the midst of East Lothian. Inspired by the local wild flowers and grasses the distillery gardens now include the installation of beehives, bat houses, bug boxes, and plantings to attract, feed, and shelter insect pollinators, birds and other creatures. The 10-year-old single malt from Glenkinchie, originally released in 1987 and since replaced by the 12-year-old. Not something you come across much these days! Part of the Four Corners of Scotland series, this distillery exclusive was released to commemorate the opening of the distillery's new visitor centre in 2020. This single malt Scotch whisky was matured for 16 years, and released at a robust cask strength of 50.6% ABV.

After opening up with a drop of water, a complex sweetness, like toffee came through - moreso than the tamadhu 12, which I felt was of a less complex sweetness but felt it was less complex than the Glen Scotia's salted caramel feel.
