Description

As you may have noticed, most LED lights come with a cover or shield these days. While this is mainly done for aesthetic reasons, many people wonder if it’s safe to cover the lights. A DC low-voltage dimmer or (RGB) controller is typically in the form of a manual or digital dimmer module that is placed between the DC power supply and the LED strip. This approach is best suited for color changing applications or less permanent lighting installations. Another way to hide your strip lights is to install them in a soffit. A soffit is a recessed box installed in the ceiling or wall and is used to hide wiring or ductwork. You can buy a pre-made soffit that is the right size for your light or have one custom-made. LED strip lighting comes with either small LED chips or larger LED chips, as well as a variety of sizes ranging from 1 metre to 5 metres.

Installing your strip lights in a soffit is more work than painting the trim, but it will give you a much cleaner look. If you are handy with tools, then this is a project that you can do yourself. If not, you can always hire a contractor to do it. Creating the desired finish with any chosen LED strip lights is easy with our range of LED diffusers. Available in 2 and 3-metre options and designed to fit specific LED Profiles, our LED diffusers can be cut to bespoke lengths to match the profile it is fitting into, ensuring every desired finish and ambience is catered for. In this blog post, we’ll show you three easy ways to cover a strip light without spending a lot of money. So read on and learn how to cover your strip light in no time!

LED strip lights are available in various shades of whites or colors. Generally, white light is the most useful and popular option for indoor lighting applications. That saves you money in the long run. They save so much energy that some places have already replaced their old street lights with LED to keep their city well lit without wasting electricity. 5. Reduce of Light Glare: There are a few ways to cover up strip lights. One way is to use tape. You can use regular tape or electrical tape. If you’re using regular tape, make sure that it is in good condition and won’t fall off easily. If you’re using electrical tape, make sure that it is flame retardant. How Do You Hide Led Strips on The Floor? Remember - the starting point of your LED strip lights should be nearest to the intended power supply as this will minimise the appearance of wires. If you want to ensure wires remain out of sight, you should install and either cove or mould to keep them hidden. Alternatively, you can even use a handy cable concealer cover. The lights are also completely cool since they’re LED, so if you have ever had issues with your hot incandescent bulbs causing a fire hazard, then this is a good alternative! 6. Give Safety a Boost:

Before you begin, it is worthwhile experimenting with the lights and deciding where you want to place them to get the best effect. A recessed ceiling may have an in-built cornice that enables you to hide LED lighting easily. However, if your ceiling does not have a cornice, you can place LED strip lights directly on the ceiling or on the walls surrounding the ceiling, depending on what type of lighting effect you want to create. Each LED strip segment must be connected to a DC power supply, or another LED strip segment that is connected to a DC power supply (daisy chain). The connection method will depend on the type of wires or plugs provided with the LED strip, as well as whether or not the DC power supply includes a plug. If you are familiar and comfortable with soldering, oftentimes this can provide the most cost effective and flexible solution. There is one final category of strip light to consider before we finish – smart LED strip lights. These are plug and play strip lights that can be integrated into a smart lighting system and controlled remotely from a smartphone app or tablet. They offer a near unlimited number of lighting possibilities, with Philips Hue boasting of having over 16 million colours available to choose from in a single light strip. This is of course a large topic in its own right, but you can learn more about smart lighting here . Where can I buy LED strip lighting? To get the most out of your LED strip lights there are a few things you need to consider first, such as installation, length, colour scheme and power supply. This guide will give you the complete lowdown on everything you need to know so you can shop for LED strip lights with complete confidence. What are LED strip lights? You may come across various LED emitter names such as 2835, 3528, 5050 or 5730. Do not worry too much about this, as what is most important in an LED strip is the number of LEDs per foot, and the power draw per foot.LED strip brightness is typically described in lumens per foot (or meter). A good quality LED strip should provide at least 450 lumens per foot (1500 lumens per meter), which provides approximately the same amount of light output per foot as a traditional T8 fluorescent lamp. (E.g. 4-ft T8 fluorescent = 4-ft of LED strip = 1800 lumens). Sometimes, you might need a punchy, saturated color effect. For these situations, colored LED strips can offer great accent and theatrical lighting effects. Colors across the entire visible spectrum are available - violet, blue, green, amber, red - and even ultraviolet or infrared. Let's start with the basics… An LED strip light is a long strip – or tape – of small LED chips that are placed at regular intervals. The tape itself comes in varying lengths and depths, but are narrow enough to allow for great versatility. This means they can be placed in awkward areas, such as wardrobes, under cabinets, around doorways and along banisters. When switched on, the LED chips light up, providing stunning accent lighting wherever you need it. LED strip lighting can also be bought with built-in waterproof casing, so you can use them in wet areas safely. There are a number of colour options to choose from too, making LED strip lighting incredibly adaptable for different occasions, events and moods. There are a number of lengths available between 1m and 5m, and you may require an electrician to install them if they're mains wired. However, for simplicity, you can choose a plug and play kit that can be installed within five minutes, as all you have to do is plug them in. Finally, the last issue with covering LED lights is reducing life span. As we have already mentioned, putting these lights in covered areas reduces airflow and coolness, which can shorten the life of the light. Tips for Covering LED Lights at Low Cost

One of the main reasons companies recommend not covering LED lights is too much heat in a small space. You can use the LED lights as ambient lighting since you don’t need to find a plug or run an extension cord to power up the lights. If you’re looking to diffuse light, a great way to cover your strip light is by using a diffuser. This is a translucent material that will spread the light evenly across the surface. First, you need to find a diffuser that’s the right size for your light and then attach it using the screws on its housing. Method 5: Using a Cover
