seven20 will only have a licence to supply to USA retailers and i expect they tell retailers they can only sell to the USA, this is common with many ranges, some retailers have ignored that in the past though but something tells me they will a lot stricter now Is it just me or does this Seven20 one look more like a prototype picture than COs, which looks more like a proper photo? I still can’t see the logic in them being different, biggest difference I can see is that the screw-holes are on different sides. I wonder if CO can sell their toys overseas? Probably, cause FPI doesn’t say anything about being UK only. If not, and both Seven20 and CO are restricted to their own countries, that’s going to be a problem for me and anyone else outside of the UK or US.

Sonic Screwdriver Thirteen - Sonic Screwdriver

From the promo photo above, it looks like Seven20 have managed to hide the screw holes making this one superior to CO. I can’t wait to see comparison videos on YouTube. The US and UK toy versions of the Sonic Screwdriver have been created by Seven20 and Character Options, respectively. The new, electronic 8” collectible is a perfect replica of the Doctor’s device, features a light crystal and has two buttons which control the light and sound elements of the Sonic

We can’t make judgements just yet, because we haven’t actually seen the CO one in action yet, maybe it does have the spinning crystal (which I think it does), maybe it’s more accurate, maybe it looks better in hand, maybe it has more SFX and is a better toy than the Seven20 version, we can’t yet tell. It’s just a shame that it’s going to cost more for UK based fans, as we’ll only be able to get it either second hand or imported. I just discovered that Seven20 is what Underground Toys became, which leads me to wonder if there is any truth in the sonics being the same?

Doctor Who 13th Sonic Screwdriver by Underground Toys

Also thinking about this, there isn’t anything that said these will be a limited release and they’re bound to be popular so logic suggests that whilst getting hold of one in the UK might be a little pricey I don’t think it’ll be difficult…they’ll surely churn out quite a few of them As we know from watching the Doctor Who Series 11 Trailer, there’s a new female Doctor and of course she has a new Sonic Screwdriver. Have a replica of your very own with this Dr. Who: Thirteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. The Friend…. No…. they are not the same product! VERY DIDFERENT when you see them in person. Also… notice the 2 buttons on this one?? Hmm? Character Options Only has the 1 button. Paint is different. And they’re are other things noticeable in person. I don’t think they hide the screw holes on purpose since it looks like the Doctor just makes this on the fly with what she has laying around. I don’t know. They look interesting. Still debating if I’m going to buy one today! I know the promo pictures are different but it wouldn’t be the first time promo pictures change from the final released product. The new electronic 8” piece from Character Options is the perfect replica of the Doctor’s most trusted device; fully lighting up when activated and featuring brand new diagnostic sound FX.

Measuring 7.4″ long, this is an authentic full-size replica of the 13th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. It even has lights and sounds. Press the buttons to play authentic sound effects, trigger glowing patterns of red and orange lights, or to activate the beautiful glowing rotating crystal.

It shows there are loads of screw holes on the other side of this version of the sonic as well. I guess Seven20 just chose not to show them in the promo shots unlike CO. Alasdair Dewar, Character Options’ Director of Product Development commented: “The new Sonic Screwdriver collectible is a radical departure in look but still retains the classic Sonic abilities and getting access to the prop images early on really helped the development of this toy.” the official images we have been sent by BBC Studios clearly show the CO and seven20 sonics are different in many different ways The new, electronic 7.4″ Thirteenth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Fan Collectible is an authentic replica of the Doctor’s device. It features two buttons that when pressed activate glowing patterns of red and orange interior lights, two different authentic Thirteenth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver sounds, and a beautiful rotating crystal that glows.

It does look cool and I really want one (though I have to wait for a while). It’ll be interesting to see a comparison of this one and the CO version when both are released. This Sonic was far simpler in appearance than the previous screwdriver with a simple steel body made from melted spoons, and a crystal on the tip that glowed amber while in use, taken from a Stenza transport chamber.

Comparing it to a Swiss Army knife, but without the knife, The Doctor explained that it functioned not only as a screwdriver, but as a scanner and a tin opener, and it could be used for diagnostics.

Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Designer Arwel Wyn Jones talked through the new sonic; “It’s a privilege to have been asked to redesign the iconic sonic screwdriver for the Thirteenth Doctor and a new generation of audiences. I can’t wait for people to see how the Doctor acquires it!” This sonic screwdriver would later be inherited by The Fourteenth Doctor, who would make use of it during the 1966 Dalek invasion of Earth. I wonder if the reason these and the se7en20 sonics haven’t got ‘made in Sheffield’ stamp on the handle is because it would be illegal as these are of course made in China? Trading standards would be all over them! Reply GIFT FOR HIM, Couples Keychain, Dr. Doctor who Time Lord Companion Key Chain Handstamped Two Hearts Police Box Sonic Screwdriver
