About this deal

The rear is as flat as the front, too, creating a cool monolithic feel, and making it ideally suited to wall hanging. Though if you’d rather stand it on a piece of furniture, it sits very stably (after a rather fiddly assembly process) on an ultra sturdy metal mount. It's not at all clear at this stage how the AU8000 differs from the AU9000 above. We know that it features the same AirSlim design, and it appears to feature Motion Xcelerator Turbo and OTS Lite. It may just come down to the finish. We'll update when we get more information from Samsung. The QN95C can ship (lossy) Dolby Atmos sound wirelessly to compatible Samsung soundbars, as well as using Samsung’s Q-Symphony feature to potentially add its speakers to those of a Samsung soundbar to deliver a bigger, more detailed sound mix. Looking past the single 4K/120Hz-capable HDMI, the QE65QN94A’s gaming appeal is given a major boost by the fact that it keeps input lag down to just 10.1ms in its Game mode, and even supports the SuperWide aspect ratio options available with some PC games. The QE65QN95A’s biggest story is its adoption of Mini-LED technology. It isn’t the first Mini-LED TV the world has ever seen; TCL claimed that honour a couple of years ago. But it’s a new step for Samsung that sees the QE65QN95A able to deliver 792 separately controlled lighting zones. The brand’s 2020 4K flagship, by comparison, only boasted just over 100 such zones.

OTS Lite consists of two physical speakers at the bottom and two 'virtual speakers' that provide height. It's available on the most premium LCD models. The standard version of OTS adds physical speakers to the top of the set, OTS+ adds side-firing speakers, and OTS Pro adds extra tweeters, taking the complete speaker array up to a total of 6.2.2 channels. The four high-bandwidth HDMIs naturally have no trouble also handling 4K/24p movie feeds in the HDR10, HLG and HDR10+ HDR formats. The only frustration, as ever with Samsung, is that the HDR support doesn’t extend to Dolby Vision, even though there continues to be substantially more Dolby Vision sources out there than there are HDR10+ ones. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. What else do you get with a flagship Samsung television? In addition to pioneering contrast and brightness, there are ultra-wide viewing angles, anti-reflection technology and HDR2000 brightness for spectacular detail. These should add up to one of the best televisions ever made on paper. The first chapter’s police raid on the National Opera House in Kiev is a masterclass of HDR performance. This TV is so bright compared to OLEDs, with the Mini LED technology allowing for such careful pinpoint control of that luminance, that it’s hard to draw our eyes away from the action even for a second.

Ergonomics Information about the ergonomic functions - height adjustment, swivel angles, tilt angles, etc. VESA mount Also striking as you listen for longer is how accurately specific effects such as voices, gun shots, engine rumbles and so on are placed both on and off the screen. The 50QN90A may not have a Dolby Atmos decoder, but it often sounds more ‘spatial’ than many TVs that do. It’s worth adding, though, that if this feature appeals to you its effect is more pronounced on larger screen sizes. The QN94A is exclusive to the UK market, with Samsung offering three variants with similar specs (QN95A and QN90A). Gaming is now a huge part of any high-end TV’s potential duties, so it’s good to see Samsung pushing the boat out with a host of game-related new features. The QE65Q95A is the first TV from any brand, for instance, to support FreeSync Premium Pro – AMD’s system for delivering a better HDR as well as variable refresh rate experience. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen.Samsung encourages comparisons with OLED TVs, given most OLED sets aren’t as slim as the marketing suggests. At 25.9mm, it will pretty much sit flush against a wall, but LG has gazumped Samsung’s Neo QLEDs with a depth of 23.1mm. Resolution is a measurement of the number of pixels that can be contained on a display screen. The higher the pixel count, the better the resolution. MicroLEDs can actually go much brighter than OLEDs, though, theoretically resulting in even more spectacular contrast. Samsung is quoting a peak brightness rating of 2000 nits in regard to this new MicroLED TV, which makes it around twice as bright as even the best OLEDs. What's more, unlike OLED TVs, which use organic materials ('OLED' stands for 'Organic Light Emitting Diode'), MicroLEDs are inorganic, so don't degrade and can't suffer from image retention or burn-in. The QE65QN94A enjoys a strikingly fulsome sound. Its mid-range is expansive and fleshed out by more prominent, smooth, distortion-free bass than you typically hear from built-in TV sound systems.

In addition, the Samsung QE65QN95A is the first TV to support gaming at the 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios that some PC games offer for players who want to get a wider field of vision. You can also raise the brightness floor of dark parts of a game’s graphics to make it easier to see hidden enemies or traps; you can magnify and even share a game’s minimap if it has one; and you can call up a virtual aiming point in the centre of the screen. It’s not all easy money for this TV, though. Boost this set to its contrasty best and you’ll occasionally notice that there’s a little dark detail that’s lost. There is also the odd moment where the TV’s brightness gets a touch out of control and details can sometimes be either overblown or underplayed. It’s possible to tone both of these down but to take them away would also hobble the QN94A’s very best characteristics. While the QE65QN95A’s star attraction is its Mini-LED-inspired picture quality, it’s no slouch on the audio front. In fact, motion processing is the one area I’d recommend tweaking when using the QE65AN95A’s Standard preset, since in its Auto setting it tends to generate quite a lot of digital side-effects. Much cleaner results can be had by selecting the Custom motion mode and setting the judder and blur elements to less than half of their maximum power. The entry-level Neo QLED model (i.e. the most affordable Mini LED model) in Samsung's 2021 range is the QN85A, which thankfully appears to be the same wherever you buy it. some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online) There are some interesting sound options to choose from. Alongside Samsung’s usual Standard and Amplify settings (Standard is the better here) is Samsung’s Intelligent Mode. Within that menu is Adaptive Sound+, which analyses your space in real time to provide a better audio delivery. For our money, it’s worth using but that might depend on the acoustics of your room. In our AV facility it adds a touch more spread of sound and a shade more dynamism.
