About this deal

OW/OM drama: I'm going to say no. The heroine's husband really wasn't OM drama. He was a key player in the book, but a very terrible man. En esta ocasión nos plantea un conflicto a simple vista como bien lo detalla la sinopsis: El detective Duncan tiene que ir a la casa del juez Cato Laird porque su esposa, Elise, mató en defensa a un ladrón que quiso dispararle primero. Closure: This ended abruptly with what I would call a HFN ending, b7t 8m sure others would be fine with calling this an HEA They get engaged I must admit that I really enjoyed reading Ricochet. Ricochet was a very readable book, full of mystery and suspense, sexual tension, and many plot twists. Possible Triggers: Yes The h is married to OW when they meet and are intimate and murder/criminal activity/violence

First, with how Lily had this universal thought and believing that her addiction problem wasn’t tangible because she never had a triggering event to detonate it. It just happened and she just became a sex addict without any traumatizing event. She downplayed what she was going through and believed that everyone would think and do the same. This book centers around our Hero and is more of a mystery thriller. Nearly all of the suspenseful action and character development centers around him, and there is very little said about the heroine here. What is mentioned about her I didn’t particularly care for, and by the end of the story I actually wanted our H to find a new love interest and walk off into the sunset with a new leading lady. You know what I am about to say right? I can’t say much about the plot because the littlest thing could give away something that could spoil your reading experience.

I did enjoy the characters. Sandra Brown has her own take on romance, and there are certain types who are fixtures in every novel. The bored trophy wife. The bad boy cop. The corrupt older man. The vicious crime lord from the slums. What I really enjoyed was how Elise blossoms in the course of the book, going from the rich man's plaything to a heroic avenger and winning the heart of Detective Duncan Hatcher. Elise say she's a big movie fan, and I loved how classic movies really shaped the story line. The plot was an amazing combination of LAURA with Gene Tierney (mysterious beauty disappears, hard-edged cop falls in love with her memory.) And there were elements of THE MALTESE FALCON ("my life is in danger -- I can't tell you why! Oh, but you're so brave and strong, you must help me!") And there were even a few moments that reminded me of THE BIG LEBOWSKI. ("Young trophy wife -- in the parlance of our times -- kidnaps herself because, hey, she's gotta feed the monkey!") Ryke’s character was really cool. From afar, he seems like a total jerk, but I surprisingly liked it. I just like how real he was. Sometimes we do need those characters who genuinely do not care to impress anyone. He really cares about Lo and Lily and does a great job in helping them get through these tough times. Addicted series is interconnected with two spin-offs. The authors have written the books in 3 “phases”. Each phase is a complete story line with a satisfying enough conclusion.

Side note- I LOVED (I know, again) getting to know more about Connor & Rose and Ryke and Daisy. They are so entertaining and also a nice little break from the heaviness that surrounds Lily & Lo's addictions and recovery. Especially the banter between Rose & Connor (I am SO looking forward to their book) and Ryke's blunt demeanor. Overall, it met my expectations, it made laugh and feel as the emotions were deff felt here given the writing and this being lily's personal journey with her recovery, and I’m so ready for Lo’s pov finally. Sandra Brown nos trae de nuevo un thriller imposible de soltar, que te mantiene enganchado hasta la última página y que te deja sin aliento.I had two other problems with this story: One is that I don't buy the romance between Duncan Hatcher (the lead detective) and Elise Laird. It didn't make sense to me. What I could understand is that it was lust at first sight, but how could they fall in a deep lasting love after three conversations (which were actually police interviews?). No I don't buy that. The other problem was Elise’s long term plan, as explained towards the end, to go after Cato Laird and Savich (not going into details here as not give away spoilers), but either she very altruistic and idealistic, or she’s very stupid. Lily and Lo’s problematic relationship is wobbling and unbalanced, so they’ll have to figure out a way to reconcile from afar. However, their inability to “touch” proves to be one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome on their journey to recovery. Some people enjoy brushing the surface. Some love goes beyond the surface. Lily and Lo have three months to figure out how serious their love is. About the Author However, by trying to become closer to her family – people who aren’t aware of her addiction – she is putting herself in even more danger. She learns more about her younger sister than she ever anticipated and sees an unnerving connection between Daisy and Ryke Meadows when she spends time with her. H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Duncan. He was alright. I didn’t feel like we really got a good idea on who he was supposed to be though. DEA Special Agent Garrett Kohl and his CIA team embark on an off-the-books investigation and partner up with a ragtag crew of outcasts and outlaws to stop extortionists and dismantle their operation before complete devastation rains down in their Texas High Plains community in this pulse-pounding thriller for fans of C. J. Box.
