About this deal

A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family. Gentle, precocious, talented, he flourishes in his new home, and the family show him a life he hadn’t dreamed possible. But he refuses to speak a word about who he really is.

Firstly I would like to say thank you and congratulations to Harry Whittaker for completing his mothers final instalment of The Seven Sisters. I am sure she would be incredibly proud. I’ve decided I’m not going to divulge too much in regards to the content of this novel. As a massive and long-standing fan of Lucinda Riley’s Seven Sisters series, I am respectful of those who haven’t read this series or final issue yet. What I will say is that I was both excited and nervous going into Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt. Harry Whittaker is definitely a son to be proud of for fulfilling his mother’s legacy and I’m sure she is looking down on him now, nodding in approval. Sure it’s fiction. It’s a modern fairytale. But oh, boy is it badly written. Shallow characters, unrealistic dialogue, an often ridiculous storyline.

General

Sadly, Lucinda Riley passed away before finishing the final eighth book. However her family have announced the book will be written by her eldest son, Harry. Tiesiog gal jau atsipalaiduok?

I'm sad that Lucinda Riley could not finish her series herself, but I think her son did an excellent job in finishing it off as per her plans. So…my big announcement is that there will actually be a Book 8, which will be entitled Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt, and it will be coming out next year. And it’s much more, I think, almost The Missing Sister: Part 2. As he grows into a young man, falling in love and taking classes at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, he can almost forget the terrors of his past, or the promise he has vowed to keep. But across Europe an evil is rising, and no-one’s safety is certain. In his heart, he knows the time will come where he must flee once more. Though she brought up her four children mostly in Norfolk in England, in 2015 she fulfilled her dream of buying a remote farmhouse in West Cork, Ireland, which she always felt was her spiritual home, and indeed this was where her last five books were written. As he grows into a young man, falling in love and taking classes at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, he can almost forget the terrors of his past, or the promise he has vowed to keep. But across Europe an evil is rising, and no-one's safety is certain. In his heart, he knows the time will come when he must flee once more. Through the pain and the joy of the journey, I have learnt the most important lesson life can offer, and I am glad of it. The moment is all we have.’

Readers of The Seven Sisters series will know that Lucinda has supported Mary's Meals for many years through www.thesevensistersshop.com, and the money raised so far has sponsored the Assembly of God Mission School in Liberia, ensuring that its 500 children are fed each day. You could definitely feel which parts were written by Harry, and which were beautifully crafted by Lucinda. I'm so glad she was able to write certain passages before she died. I feel like Harry's editor could have helped tweaked a few lazily written parts. From the very beginning the story flowed beautifully between present day on the Titan and the retelling of Pa Salt’s life through use of his diary. This was so cleverly executed that not once was I confused as to what time period I was in or who the narrator was; covering such a vast time period and cast of characters this can’t have been easily achieved. No spoilers here! We do know that Pa Salt is the elusive and adored adoptive father of the seven sisters. The series has gradually revealed tantalising clues to seven sisters' heritage and origins, culminating in this eighth and final book. To get to the bottom of who Pa Salt really is, you'll have to read Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt. We promise that all will be revealed and you won't be disappointed. What is Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt about? The book is filled to the brim with awkward situations. Like when at the end the old guy is presented with Bear. A non-biological peepsqueek in diapers, but the son of one of his starry girls. While his grown-up biological grandson is competely ignored. But, hey, it’s all about the sisters right?

Who is Pa Salt?

It’s been an immense and very rare privilege to work with Lucinda. Popular fiction is often looked down on but when authors like Lucinda break through and strike an emotional chord with their readers that really is the joy of publishing. Lucinda had an enormous capacity for fun, friendship and love and I was honoured to call her a friend. I, and the whole team at Pan Mac, are so thankful to have been given the opportunity to go on this journey with her. I am going to miss her terribly and I know many of my colleagues here and around the world will do so too.' As he grows into a young man, falling in love and taking classes at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, he can almost forget the terrors of his past, or the promise he has vowed to keep. But across Europe an evil is rising, and no-one's safety is certain. In his heart, he knows the time will come where he must flee once more. the Aegean. All the seven sisters are gathered for the first time, on board the Titan to say a final goodbye to the enigmatic father they loved so dearly. To the surprise of everyone, it is the missing sister who Pa Salt has chosen to entrust with the clue to their pasts. But for every truth revealed, another question emerges.

the Aegean. I rarely shed a tear when reading novels, but confess this is one book that had me sobbing at the end. I think the culmination of this much-loved series coming to a close, the passing of the author before the end and the final parting scene which had all the feels got me! Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt was a most fitting tribute a once in a lifetime series and dearly missed author.
