About this deal

My experience of the Kamui’s insulation was very positive. I couldn’t feel any cold coming up through the ground. And the r-value is a bit higher than a number of comparable camping mattresses out there. I think this is a brilliant feature for Kamui to have added on, given how common a complaint this issue is with other lightweight camping chairs. Some people have found it such an issue that they have taken to puncturing tennis balls and attaching them to the ends of the legs. Apart from its affordability, the Sportneer chair also claims a weight capacity of up to 150kg. Honestly, since all these chairs share such similar structural designs, it’s a bit challenging to confirm if their reported capacities should vary so much. What I particularly appreciate about the Sportneer chairs are the handy loops at the fabric sections where the poles are inserted. These loops simplify the process of slotting in the poles without the risk of catching a finger as you’re stretching the fabric. The Helinox One Chair is frequently regarded as the benchmark of excellence in the world of lightweight hiking and camping chairs. This is largely thanks to the pioneering innovations that Helinox introduced in this sector, making it the leading brand of lightweight camping chairs.

Would I recommend the Helinox Chair One? Yes, I actually would. It’s an excellent chair with a sterling reputation. But if you’re at all price-conscious, I suggest you consider the Kamui chair a great alternative. I've only tested it for 10-15 mins ... seems like it's going to last. It's quite low down which may be a problem to some people, but perfectly fine for me and will also sit nicely inside my text. [ tent height 160 cm] The framework is a mix between Aluminium and plastic I think, which may present problems later on, especially if the plastic break holding the framework together. Although if you are more on the larger size this may be an unsuitable chair, I'm 5'9 and 73kg and it's a comfortable tight fit. Finally, I don’t score products based on their price since everyone has a different budget and different expectations, but I do cover my thoughts on the value for money the chair provides. [8/10] Portability and weight Now, all things used outdoors eventually get covered in mud. I reached out to KAMUI about whether you can clean the chair. The answer is yes, and it sounds pretty straightforward.Secondly, I want to buy a whole bunch of camping chairs at some point and test them all at once. If this is something that you’re interested in, let me know in the comments! Thankfully, Kamui is good at offering replacements and provides a one-year warranty. But do let me know in the comments if you have any issues as I’m actively monitoring the durability. Comparing the Kamui pad to other camping mattresses, it’s a little bit more lightweight than some other foam and air mats, but heavier than the air only mattresses. No surprise that the foam element makes these mattresses much heavier. The Kamui sleeping pad fits easily into a camping tent. Here it’s pictured in my Crua Tri tent. [6/10] Portability The Kamui camping chair held up well to my testing. From my experience, I recommend the chair given the excellent value for money it provides.

The Kamui chair comes in a carry bag, roughly the size of a typical toiletries bag. [8/10] Ease of setup

Contact

One minor annoyance is that it can take a few seconds to work out which loops are the top and bottom loops. In my first attempt setting the chair up, I accidentally set the seat the wrong way up. However, these advantages come at a significant cost – both for your wallet and in terms of features. The Kamui camping mattress combines air with foam into what is a pretty comfortable mat. The foam inside helps contribute to what feels like a less bouncy and more stable camping mat than a number of the air-only mats out there.

I’m 5’10”, and there is a decent amount of room at the end of the Kamui. So fairly tall people should be able to fit too. [6/10] Durability Kamui includes chair legs, seat fabric, a carry bag, a shoulder strap and an instructions leaflet. Final thoughts on the Kamui chair Kamui camping chair tech specs I have taken most of these measurements, so they might differ slightly from Kamui’s measurements. Technical Specification I really like the convenient loops at the parts of the fabric that you slot the poles into. These loops make it easier to slot in the poles without bashing a pole into your finger while you’re tensioning the fabric.

Overall, the Kamui is a very lightweight, portable camping chair that will be light enough for almost everyone. If you’re on a desperate ultralight mission to cut every gram, you could save 454g by choosing the Helinox Chair Zero, but you’ll have to be willing to pay more than three times the price of the Kamui. I found the Kamui camping chair surprisingly comfortable, although you miss armrests after a while! [8/10] Durability Granted, it’s hard to know what Kamui can do without compromising the strength of the fabric where you sit. But you should be aware that leaving this chair outside will make the material very wet, and it does take a couple of hours to dry.

Lastly, the baseline price of the Helinox Chair Zero is over three times that of budget lightweight chairs like the Kamui chair. If you decide to include accessories like ball feet, a cup holder, and a shoulder strap, the Helinox Chair Zero becomes more than five times pricier than the Kamui. It’s perhaps unsurprising to see that it suffers from some of the typical stability issues these sorts of chairs have. Every camping chair has a weight capacity, which tells you how much it can carry. Look for a camping chair that can carry your weight. If you buy a camp chair with a low weight capacity and still use it, the chair will break eventually. Most folding chairs have a weight capacity between 300 and 800 lbs or 135 and 360 kg. Extras I tested the Kamui’s self-inflating features against the OEX Traverse 2.5 and it was significantly better.

Highest Rated in Camping Chairs & Stools

KAMUI recommends cleaning the chair immediately after it gets stained or dirty to make the cleaning easier. You can use a sponge or cloth with some dishwashing soap and water to gently scrub away the stains and then rinse the chair off thoroughly. The chair should then be dried in the sun before putting it away to avoid any mould issues. From my perspective, I’ve seen no issues with durability. But I have deducted some marks because I’ve seen that some other people have had issues in the past. For example, a giant air bubble forming on the sleeping mat after inflating it for the first time or some people finding it deflates over time. I would probably only recommend the Helinox Chair Zero to someone very serious about lightweight hiking or if money was no object. A great chair – but not designed for more casual campers. The chair is anti-sink, yes. But I would still expect a degree of sinking if you’re on soft sand. There is only so much that the feet can do, after all. Other comfort features A really unique feature of the Kamui chair is its wide disc feet. Circular plastic rings have been added to the ends of each chair leg, making the legs less likely to sink into wet ground.
