This time, the guys tried to reinvent themselves in a whole new spectrum while already bringing to the table sometimes nearly finished songs. Walk the Sky is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alter Bridge, released on October 18, 2019 via Napalm Records.

The album even starts with just one-and-a-half-minute long song One Life, going easy on vocals of Myles Kennedy, having this exact calming vibe that I rather enjoy at the beginning. Furthermore, I think it plausible that AB are purposefully tuning their style to target a commercial sound that will receive more radio play.

Even though with the release of the first singles you could see and hear mixed emotions all over the internet, no one should be even remotely close to disappointment. When they go into the chorus, singer Myles Kennedy harmonizes brilliantly over Tremonti’s guitar riff that would surely make Neal Schon smile. And with the promise the guys made, to be on tour of the whole next year, I cannot wait to hear this masterpiece live.

I’m talking about the album oriented rock (AOR) sound of bands like Journey, Autograph, Night Ranger, etc. The lyrical complexity of 'WTS' has undoubtedly been reduced compared to AB’s older works, which often featured clever metaphors and beautiful imagery, which I failed to experience here. Ultimately, 'WTS' offers perfectly competent hard rock that is almost certain to satisfy long-term fans.One of these happened to the latest solo-project offering from AB axeman Mark Tremonti, inviting obvious comparisons. In terms of highlights on the album, the slower, ballad-type songs continue to be AB’s strongest offerings.
