About this deal

The Rocket Control Panel is similar to SSD toolboxes from other manufacturers, offering monitoring information and firmware updates.

It is no secret that one of Sabrent’s top weapons in the storage world is the Rocket 4 Plus which has been around for some time now. But on this 8TB drive that cache is about a quarter of the available capacity, meaning you have to be transferring over 2TB of data before you start to see any sign of the QLC memory performance cliff. The Rocket Q NVMe SSD delivers amazing speeds, unmatched reliability, and capacity options up to 8TB. Then came triple-level cell and now quad-level cell, and there is even the spectre of penta-level cell on the horizon too.First up is 4k random read, where the 8TB Rocket 4 Plus showed 348K IOPS, which was well back of the 4TB version and the rest of the pack. On standard SSDs the amount of SLC cache used will be relatively small, and that means large transfers can saturate the cache quickly, so half-way through copying a game install you might slow to a crawl as you get to experience the real performance of QLC. We have been working on the Sabrent 8TB Rocket 4 Plus for a little while now and we are so happy with how this turned out!

This sits directly behind --and is completely blocked by-- the RTX 4090, so heat soak is expected since no airflow gets to such a tight space given the size of a 4090 cooler as shown below.seanwebster said:They have had Rocket 4 Plus capacities ranging from 500GB-4TB since before the release of this 8TB model. This and the 2TB Plus-G have been my first hands-on experiences with the brand, and I have to say that I am more than pleased with the performance and reliability (so far) of both drives. If Sabrent has taught us anything, it's that in the consumer space, as it relates to NVMe SSDs, capacity is KING. If you have a Z790 board and use a Gen 5 SSD, then you may lose functionality of PCIe slots entirely.
