About this deal

Michter’s US 1 Kentucky Straight Rye is also available with personalized Fort Nelson Select labeling at Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery.

TASTING NOTES Deep notes of vanilla and toffee, toasted almonds and cinnamon with an ample dose of crushed pepper and a hint of orange citrus.Added depth and richness from the production process giving notes of orange peel, roasted nuts and butterscotch as well. The 10-Year Rye, 10-Year Bourbon and 20-Year Bourbon expressions reflect the exceptional results of uncompromising craftsmanship and Kentucky’s unrivaled climate for aging outstanding whiskey. Renowned for Rye Whiskey (America's oldest whiskey variety) since the company's origins in 1753, the Michter's US*1 Straight Rye is made from selected American rye grain that is sheared to maximize the extraction of flavour. After a nearly three year absence from the market, Master Distiller Willie Pratt finally gave the green light for the re-release of Michter’s 10 Year Straight Rye in April 2014.

TASTING NOTES Cascading flavors with rich vanilla, coffee, and a hint of orange, crystallized dried fruit, spicy pepper finish.

Often significantly older than the age statement on the label, only a select few barrels age with the elegance required for inclusion in these highly limited releases. Subject to the costly evaporation of a quarter century of “Angel’s Share,” our 25 Year Single Barrel Rye continues the Michter’s tradition of sparing no expense in striving to offer the finest whiskey possible. One of Michter's most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).

Tasting Notes: Fresh and approachable with a touch of mintiness to help balance the aromatic spices thus typical of rye. Originally founded in Pennsylvania in 1753 by John and Michael Shenk, legend has it that then-General George Washington visited the Shenks' distillery in 1776 and bought supplies of whiskey for his troops during the cold winter at Valley Forge, leading to the claim that Michter's was "the whiskey that warmed the American Revolution". Distilled to Master Distiller Dan McKee’s exacting specifications, no US 1 whiskey is ever released until Dan and the Michter’s tasting panel deems it ready. It's made from select American rye grain that is sheared to maximize the extraction of flavor from the grain.

They only sources wood for their casks that has been air dried between 18 and up to 48 months, leading to less tannins being imparted into the whisky. In addition, it is also the impressive nuances of grass, wood and campfire that emerge from the glass and demand the first sip.
