Sprague used an innovative marketing approach by sponsoring bodybuilding contests, some of which had a significant fan following. He also arranged several events where he brandished the Gold’s Gym logo quite extravagantly. The Anax Fitness range of Golds Gym clothing for men and women features a vast selection of garments, from golds gym t-shirts, shorts, golds gym stringer vests, tank tops, hoodies, sweatshirts, crop tops, leggings and much more. If you are looking to show off your physique and wear the iconic Gold's Gym gym stringer vest, then you have come to the right place! Represent the all American brand with a classic Muscle Joe printed tank top, as worn by some of bodybuilding's iconic athletes. The Tri-Blend hoodie has been one of our top selling products for many years and shows no signs of slowing down. This product range is constantly adapting to maintain its dominance in the market, bringing you a constantly evolving gym wear collection that works in the gym and looks great on the high street. The Gold's Gym Muscle Joe Stringer vest for men is the iconic flagship gym vest for the Gold's Gym brand. If you have seen any images of Arnold Schwarzenegger and many other famous bodybuilders from the 80's & 90's you will have caught a glimpse of them wearing the iconic Golds Gym Stringer. During this period, the Golds Gym vest maintained a similar fit and shape, but included the old school 'Old Joe' logo print. Gold’s Gym continued to grow and entered the 1980s as a widely known, fully established facility. However, Sprague had to sell this gym to Pete Grymkowski, Tim Kimber, and Ed Connors. These three men took the Gold’s Gym to new heights and enhanced its influence across the United States. After a few years, the gym’s ownership was transferred to Dave Saxe and Bud Danitz, who sold the gym to Ken Sprague after running it for about two years.

But is that all that makes this Golds Gym tank top so popular among the world’s top bodybuilding athletes? The answer is no; this gym stringer has a very interesting history. It tells the story of Gold’s Gym, the place that reintroduced the sport of bodybuilding to the world in a glorified way. The History of Gold’s Gym and Its Stinger Vest

Sprague’s branding efforts had been so effective that he managed to create the prospects of his gym getting recognition on the Hollywood level. This was made possible in 1974 when freelance photographer George Butler and his partner Charles Gaines called Sprague to discuss the possibility of filming California’s top athletes. These two men had already written the Pumping Iron book, which describes the bodybuilding subculture.

Muscle Joe is the iconic mascot of Gold’s Gym. He is a bald muscly weightlifter who was named for the founder of Gold’s Gym – Joe Gold. The story goes that the logo was drawn on a napkin over lunch. If you believe the legend it was quite a lunch, in attendance were Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ken Waller and Ric Drasin. It was Ric Drasin who scribbled the now-iconic image on to a napkin. When Gold’s Gym’s active community put the logo onto t-shirts, they sold them so fast that they couldn’t keep up with the demand. Ever since Muscle Joe has been the face of Gold’s Gym. In 1985, Gold’s Gym was internationalized, as its first brand was set up in Canada. This expansion brought wide-scale recognition to the gym and made it pop around in American popular culture. The gym’s iconic Drasin-designed t-shirts were worn by Carl Weathers in several TV shows. A Brand You Know - The picture of the weightlifter with the barbell high above him is something everyone remembers. Buy with confidence from Anax Fitness.Although the Pumping Iron book was a major financial success, Butler and Gaines couldn’t get enough funding for the film. That was because studios were reluctant to work on a project that wouldn’t garner much interest from the public. The shooting of this film took one month, and it featured a detailed bodybuilding match between Arnold and Lou Ferrigno for the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia 1975 titles. The shooting of this film was a challenging endeavour as its creators had to face the egoistic behaviours of bodybuilders disgruntled over the contract fee. This was because, aside from Arnold, the rest of the bodybuilders were offered relatively meagre amounts. But despite all these hardships and struggles, the shooting was completed successfully, and the movie was a success. Fast forward 45 years and the brandhas now grown to become one of the most iconic and trusted fitness brands globally, with leisure centre locations all over the World which are constantly featured in the media and on Athletes' social profiles. It only seemed a natural progression for the Gold's Gym clothing range to follow in the footsteps of their gyms and become just as popular and as iconic. Be a part of the golden bodybuilding era and wear Gold's Gym!
